The Latest Update on Red Sea Attacks

A US destroyer shot down drones and a missile launched by the Houthi rebels in the Red Sea aimed at the USS Carney destroyer vessel, US officials said on Wednesday.

  • The Houthi attack on the Carney on Tuesday involved bomb-carrying drones and one anti-ship ballistic missile, US CENTCOM said.
  • The US later launched an airstrike destroying three anti-ship missiles and three bomb-carrying drone boats, CENTCOM added.
  • In addition, the UKMTO has received a report of an incident 54NM southwest of Aden, Yemen, which authorities are currently investigating, it said via X. The incident occurred at 08:40UTC on 6 March.
  • Iran announced on Wednesday it would confiscate a Kuwait crude oil cargo for Chevron aboard a tanker, the Advantage Sweet, it seized nearly a year earlier.
  • On Monday, a missile attack by the Houthi rebels damaged the Swiss-owned MSC Sky II vessel around 90NM from Aden according to MSC and US CENTCOM. MSC confirmed that the ship was attacked on Monday while sailing though the Bab el-Mandeb strait toward Djibouti. Meanwhile, the Indian navy released a video of its sailors from the INS Kolkata fighting a fire aboard the MSC Sky II.
