STOCKS: The major Asia-Pac equity indices trade mixed in the wake of a positive
lead from Wall St. (that was aided by M&A activity).
- Volatility crept in as headlines crossed outlining the latest chapter of
Sino-U.S. trade related communique, but the initial optimism was quickly unwound
on the back of a lack of a hard, positive outcome, with U.S. equity index
futures edging away from the fresh all-time highs that were registered on the
initial headlines.
- Alibaba started trading in Hong Kong after its heavily scrutinised IPO, adding
~7% in early trade.
- A lack of fresh pro-democracy developments re: Hong Kong weighed on the Hang
Seng, with China summoning the U.S. ambassador to discuss the recently drawn up
HK Bill.
- Nikkei 225 +0.6%, Hang Seng -0.1% CSI 300 -0.1%, ASX 200 +0.8%.
- S&P 500 futures +2, DJIA futures +28, NASDAQ 100 futures +11.
