STOCKS: The major regional equity markets trade higher in Asia hours, with
mainland China outperforming on the back of the mini trade deal between the U.S.
& China. While equity markets have rallied on the back Friday's developments,
which are a short term positive, they do little to alter the medium-term
dynamics of the Sino-U.S. trade war, so the moves must be assessed with a degree
of caution as many questions remain. U.S. equity index futures moved back
towards neutral levels at one point, before edging higher again.
- The Nikkei 225 is closed, owing to a national holiday.
- The continued violent protests in Hong Kong seemingly did little in terms of
weighing on the Hang Seng.
- Hang Seng +1.0%, CSI 300 +1.5%, ASX 200 +0.7%.
- S&P 500 futures +6, DJIA futures +61, NASDAQ 100 futures +18.
