AUSSIE BONDS
AUSSIE BONDS: The move in Tsys helped pull Aussie futures higher on SYCOM, with
the space sticking to a tight range in early SFE dealing ahead of local event
risk. YM +1.0, XM +2.0, leaving YM/XM at 34.5 and the cash equivalent at 34.0.
- Bills sit unchanged to 1 tick higher through the reds.
- Focus seems to be squarely on the upcoming evening (Aus time) address from RBA
Governor Lowe, which has a topic of "Unconventional Monetary Policy: Some
Lessons from Overseas." Also worth noting that RBA Deputy Gov. Debelle will also
speak in ~20 minutes time (23:50 GMT), on "Employment and Wages."
- re: Lowe's address, RBA rhetoric has pointed towards a desire to stay away
from negative rates, while unconventional MonPol discussions have centred on a
QE programme (although estimates of size vary greatly), and maybe even an
ECB-esque TLRO programme. Expect Lowe to point towards a package/combination of
measures as being most effective, as he has done in the past.
