CHINA PRESS: The yuan will face a new pattern of fluctuation once the US dollar
index tendency changes, reported the Securities Times on Tuesday. The newspaper
cited Guan Tao, a senior researcher at the China Finance 40 Forum, in saying
that with a lack of clear direction from the US dollar index the yuan would
fluctuate within a narrow range of around 6.71. He attributed the recent
appreciation of the yuan to counter-cyclical control which made the yuan "easier
to rise than fall", an improvement of supply-demand in the FX market, and the
adjustment of the US dollar index.
