TotalEnergies Not Expecting Mozambique LNG Until 2027 Earliest

TotalEnergies won’t export LNG from Mozambique before 2027 at the earliest. The project was halted two years ago by an Islamic State-linked group.

  • “From the time we restart to production, we need another four years to build the facility,” Stephane Le Galles, project director at TotalEnergies said.
  • TotalEnergies is seeking security, human rights and cost commitments from Mozambique authorities to lift the force majeure.
  • It says a timeline to meet these conditions is unclear.
  • BP began shipping LNG from Mozambique late last year and its supplies are seen as crucial to helping Europe move away from Russian gas.
