DOLLAR-YEN: Touched a low of Y108.47 Tuesday, with month-, year-end flow
provided the main weight. However, US equities edged higher and prompted a
recovery which took USD/JPY back up to Y108.76 before it closed out the year at
Y108.60. New Year's day RRR 50 basis point cut by the PBOC provided a lift for
Asian stock markets (Tokyo remains on holiday until Monday) and provided another
lift for the recovery USD/JPY, the rate edging on to Y108.80 in early Europe.
Resistance is noted into Y108.90/109.00, a break of Y109.10 to open a move
toward Y109.20/25. Support remains around Y108.50.
