ASIA

Newswires confirm the reopening of the Hong Kong-China border will take place on 8 January (as was widely speculated), with PCR tests no longer required to travel to the Chinese mainland from Hong Kong. The statement issued also noted that China will increase flights from the mainland to both Hong Kong & Macau, with special tourism and business visas for travel to Hong Kong from the mainland also set to restart on 8 January. Border checkpoints between the mainland and Hong Kong will be re-opened “gradually,” with flight capacity limits set to be removed.
