Treading Water In Early Trade

AUD

AUD/USD see-sawed Thursday, printing a fresh six-week low in the process. Late-doors greenback sales allowed the rate to finish marginally above neutral levels.

  • Local Covid-19 news continue to draw attention. South Australia Premier has just announced that the state will open its borders to vaccinated travellers from all other states from Tuesday,
  • Next week, focus turns to flash Markit PMIs (Tuesday), completed construction work (Wednesday), capex (Thursday) & retail sales (Friday). RBA's Kohler & Bullock will speak on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
  • The rate last trades at $0.7276, unchanged on the day. A break above Nov 15 high of $0.7371 would shift focus to Nov 9 high of $0.7432. Conversely, a fall through channel base at $0.7255 would expose Oct 6 low of $0.7226.
