Tri-Lateral Talks Digested, Banxico Governor Scheduled To Speak

  • President AMLO urged U.S. President Joe Biden to reduce North America's imports and to loosen immigration restrictions in order to ease labour shortages, during tri-lateral talks in Washington on Thursday.
  • North American nations should work to more closely integrate their economies and to reduce imports in order to compete with China, AMLO said. He also commented on the need for the country's electricity reform, but it wasn't a topic of discussion.
    • Foreign Minister Ebrard said U.S. will help with Mexico's development initiatives in Central America, adding that Mexico is to work with Canada on hydroelectric modernization.
    • Furthermore, Ebrard said the next leaders' summit would be in Mexico City in 2022.
  • Weighing global risk appetite, stemming from fresh Covid concerns in Europe has dampened the performance of EMFX on Friday. As such USDMXN finds itself towards the best levels of the week just above 20.85. Key resistance is unchanged at 20.9790, Nov 3 high.
  • Central Bank Governor Alejandro Diaz de Leon is scheduled to speak at an event hosted by the Mexican Institute of Finance Executives (IMEF). Remarks scheduled for 2:45pm Mexico City Time.
