US TSYS: Tsys aided by FX-tied buying as the US dollar weakens vs. yen since
about 9am ET, which spurs black-box buying in Tsys, said traders. The black
boxes appeared to be at work overnight, which spurred confusing trading, as one
would have expected Tsys to gain a bid amid N.Korea missile firing, but instead,
black boxes sold Tsys as Japanese yen got hurt overnight. "Try trading Tsys
overnight," sighed one trader. "The algos are controlling things. Now, the yen
is getting stronger, dollar weaker, so they are buying Tsys."
- Now Tsys appear to hold a better tone as the market continues to work off the
supply overhang from this week's 3/10/30Y auctions, and as some traders
anticipate/do mild safe-haven buying into the weekend. N.Korea danger still
looms after overnight missile firing over Hokkaido, Japan, and within range of
US's Guam. UN Security Council meanwhile has a closed-door meeting this
afternoon on N.Korea.
