report release from Fed at 1100ET (Fed chair testimony Tue, July 17). Current
risk-off on mixed messages after US Pres Trump posits US/UK trade deal at risk
on soft-BREXIT, while Trump says relationship w/PM May "very, very strong". US$
gains, Pound receded.
- US$ index stronger: DXY +0.333 to 95.160; choppy US$/Yen, rebounding off
recent lows .06 112.61 (112.80H/112.42L); equities weaker after posting decent
gains overnight (emini -1.0, 2798.5, 2807.25H); gold weaker (XAU -7.18 1240.23);
West Texas crude little softer (WTI -.09, 70.23).
- Asia, quiet sideways trade, light two-way flow through Asian hours into early
London trade, fast$, prop acct buying intermediates. Eurodollar futures trade
modestly higher, short end gains after 3M LIBOR set -0.0032 to 2.3360%
(+0.0047/wk). Reds largely inverted vs. Greens-Blues. Swap spds steady/mixed,
receivers in 1-3s, 5s10s steepeners. Tsy cash/ylds: 2Y 99-26.75 (2.582%), 5Y
99-15 (2.739%), 10Y 100-09.5 (2.838%), 30Y 103-21 (2.939%).
