TTF Regains Ground

NATURAL GAS

TTF front month is trading higher today after the return of Norwegian gas facilities has weighed on European gas benchmarks on Monday. The Norwegian Aasta Hansteen field saw marginal capacity cuts on an unplanned outage.

  • TTF AUG 23 up 3% at 25.85€/MWh
  • TTF WIN 23 up 0.9% at 45.28€/MWh
  • LNG flows to northwest Europe on 15 July were 186.93mcm/d, in line with the 30 day average.
  • Pipeline imports from Norway have recovered further to 324.8mcm/d. The Aasta Hansten field saw an unplanned outage on 18-19 July affecting 5.4mcm/d of capacity.
  • Gas in store was up to 81.81% full on 16 July according to GIE data compared to the five year average of 66.76% and still on track to refill despite below normal injection rates.
  • Algerian gas flows to Italy at Mazara are at 63.42mcm/d.
  • Forecasts for wind output in northwest Europe been revised down for later in July, supporting gas output for power generation.
  • US liquefied natural gas exports are currently more profitable to Asia in September and October, to Europe in November. The gas price spread between Asia and Europe is $2.28/MMBtu in August.
  • JKM-TTF Aug 23 down -1.3$/mmbtu at 2.14$/mmbtu
