TURKEY-Putin: Turkey Most Reliable Route For Gas To EU

As the meeting in Astana, Kazakhstan between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan gets underway, Putin talks up Russian-Turkish energy links. No comment so far on whether Erdogan is set to offer mediation on war in Ukraine to Putin.

  • Putin: Hydrocarbon supplies from Russia to Turkey are in full flow.
  • Putin to Erdogan: 'Work on nuclear power plan is going as planned'. A dispute between Russia's Rosatom and Turkish contractor IC Ictas over the construction of the Akkuyu plant in southern Turkey was resolved in September. Plant will continue to be built by Turkish firm but run by Rosatom.
  • Putin: Gas prices in a proposed gas hub in Turkey could be determined without political overtones, it could be a platform not only for supplies, but also for determining prices.
  • Erdogan states that he discussed with Putin the export of Russian gain and fertilisers.
