TURKEY: Retail Sales Growth Slows to +5.4% Y/Y in July

  • Turkey's retail sales rose 5.4% y/y in July versus a revised +8.9% in June, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute. That marks the lowest for the series since July 2022. Month-on-month, retail sales rose 0.8% compared to +1.7% in June.
  • The increase in imports of consumer goods, led by motor vehicles, continues unabated in 2024, Ekonomi report. In the January-July period, imports of consumer goods increased by 13.7% to $34.6bn, or 15% of total imports.
