Tusk Vows To Address Farmers' Concerns

  • PM Donald Tusk told the leaders of farmer protests that he can re-negotiate EU decisions on free trade arrangements with Ukraine, the provisions of the "Green Deal" and sanctions on agricultural imports from Russia and Belarus to protect their interests. He said that he will inform the protesters about further decisions at the next meeting on March 5 or 7.
  • Morgan Stanley revised their NBP rate call and now expect the central bank to stand pat on rates until September due to the increased risk aversion in its reaction function. They expect the NBP to cut rates by just 50bp through the end of this year versus 100bp previously, with the first cut pencilled in for September.
  • Ex-Education Minister Przemyslaw Czarnek played down speculation that he might seek to succeed Jaroslaw Kaczynski as leader of the Law and Justice (PiS) party and dropped a hint that the formation's European election campaign will be based on its opposition to the proposed revision of EU treaties.
  • Poland's S&P Global Manufacturing PMI will cross the wires at 08:00GMT/09:00CET. Consensus expects 47.0; the previous reading was 47.1.
