Two Haynesville Natgas Pipelines Target 2025 Start: Platts

Two natural gas pipeline projects providing egress from the Haynesville Shale are a targeting a 2025 start, while two companies said they are considering expansions to egress pipelines in Louisiana, Platts said.

  • Haynesville production has declined this year amid weak gas prices, averaging 14.3 bcf/d this summer, compared to 15.9 bcf/d in summer 2023.
  • However, midstream firms are building out capacity in anticipation of sharp increases in production when the 20m mtpa Plaquemines and 18.1m mtpa Golden Pass LNG export terminals start up, likely in H2 2025.
  • Momentum Midstream’s 1.7 bcf/d NG3 pipeline is on track to enter service at the end of 2025.
  • The 1.8 bcf/d Louisiana Energy Gateway (LEG) has begun construction and is targeting a H2 2025 start.
  • DT Midstream has been increasing capacity from Haynesville to Gillis through its LEAP Gathering System expansions. It is considering a fourth expansion between 200-400 mcf/d for a 2025/2026 start
