Two Oil Platforms Shut In North Sea On Strike Action

Two oil production platforms in the North Sea halted as a 48-hour strike by contractors gets underway, a union spokesman said.

  • Around 1,300 offshore workers have planned to strike for 48 hours on Monday. The walkout would hit operators including BP, CNRI, EnQuest, Harbour, Ithaca, Shell, TAQA and TotalEnergies, Unite the union said.
  • The Ninian Central and Ninian South platforms have both shut down due to the walkouts, the spokesman for Unite said. Those platforms produce oil that goes into the Brent crude stream. The platforms are operated by Canadian Natural Resources.
