STOCKS: U.S. stock index futures provided a negative lead for the Asia-Pacific
space as Apple cut its Q1 outlook, citing issues in China, with the FX flash
crash also providing headwinds for risk assets heading into Asian hours. S&P 500
-32, DJIA -304, NASDAQ 100 -137.
- China linked shares struggled, likely hampered by the story, which has
exacerbated growth worries, despite the PBoC lowering the bar for bank lending
to SMEs late Wednesday, and many looking for RRR tweaks ahead of the lunar new
year next month. Hang Seng -0.3%, CSI 300 -0.1%.
- Australian stocks shook off the uncertainty apparent elsewhere, benefitting
from the uptick in gold prices, as well as oil's uptick on Wednesday (in spite
of some moderation today). ASX 200 +1.6%.
