  • 'The UAE is not open to creating an axis against any country in the region, especially Iran...[we are] open to anything that protects the UAE but doesn't target a third country'.
  • Says that the 'UAE is in the process of sending an ambassador to Tehran...[the UAE] wants to rebuild bridges with Iran'.
  • Says that the UAE 'wants a more stable oil market' and 'will abide by the decisions of OPEC+'.

The comments regarding Iran mark a stark change in tone from the UAE. Only a few weeks ago the gov't raised concerns with their Iranian counterparts regarding the Iranian nuclear programme.
