UK Government Outlines Concessions Made to Rebel MPs

UK

UK Government divulge some further details on the concessions being made by UK Gov to appease the rebel Conservatives - largely as expected, namely the need to ask parliament to invoke any breach of international law.

According to Reuters, the concessions include:

  • Government will only ask parliament to use the powers in the Internal Market Bill if the EU engages in a material breach of duties of good faith, or other obligations
  • Examples would include insistence that GB-NI tariffs and related provision such as import VAT should be charged in ways that are not related to the real risk of goods entering the Single Market, or if the EU insists on paperwork for NI goods headed to Great Britain.
