UK LNG Imports Pick Up Despite Drop in Overall European Arrivals in Sep

Overall LNG European imports are still below last year’s levels, but UK LNG imports are picking up after low numbers in July and August. Four cargoes have already arrived this month and another three are expected before the end of September and two in early October according to Bloomberg.

  • LNG sendout to Europe was down at 250mcm/d on 24 Sep compared to an average of 294mcm/d so far in September and with flows well below last year levels of around 370mcm/d.
  • Increasing volumes at sea and recent cargo arrival delays into NW Europe until the middle of October could be waiting for higher demand and higher prices later in winter. The total estimated quantity of LNG on tankers that have not unloaded for at least 20 days increased 30% over the last week to 3.11mn tons as of 24 September, the highest level since 22 May.
  • Northwest Europe has received 38 cargoes so far this month with another 11 cargoes currently scheduled before the end of the month. Total LNG imports into NW Europe in August were 53 cargoes with 52 in July.

    • TTF WIN 23 down -4.9% at 47.5€/MWh
    • TTF SUM 24 down -3.5% at 48.6€/MWh
