POWER: UK May Ease Nuclear Power Plant Location Rules

The UK government is set to announce on Thursday an easing of rules where SMRs can be build in order to hit its climate targets according to The Times.
- The UK has currently eight designated sites that are designed for the development of nuclear power plants, including the Hinkley Point and Sizewell sites according to Bloomberg.
- The government will also examine whether it is possible to fast track the process for safety approvals of new nuclear power plants to reduce construction costs, the Times reported.
- UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves is expected to use the government’s spending review to announce funding for one of two SMRs designs.
