Ukraine Completes Three Nuclear Maintenances

Ukraine has completed maintenance on three out of nine nuclear reactors, with works due to start at one more reactor in the coming days, Energoatom said, cited by Reuters.

  • After Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, the country has been heavily relying on its nuclear power plants.
  • Russia has destroyed around 9GW of Ukraine’s power generation capacity since the start of March, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said last week.
  • Energoatom said maintenance is being carried out on power units at the Rivne, South Ukraine and Khmelnytskyi power plants.
  • Energoatom will start works at another 1GW reactor in the next days, it said.
  • Ukraine’s power imports stood at 27.671GWh on Thursday, down from the record high of 29.796GWh on Wednesday, Ukrenergo said.
