EUROZONE DATA: Unemployment Rate (Apr 2020)

- The Eurozone unemployment (UE) rate rose to 7.3% in Apr, below expectations

for an increase to 8.2%. 

- March jobless rate was revised down to 7.1% from 7.4% reported previously. 

- Among the member states, the lowest rates were observed in the Netherlands

(3.4%) and Germany (3.5%), while the highest rate was observed in Spain (14.8%) 

- Eurostat noted that a significant amount of people stopped looking for work

during the Covid-19 crisis for several reasons, leading to discrepancies in the

number of registered unemployed and those measured unemployed according to the

ILO definition.
