Some dealer desks citing latest flurry of geopol headlines re: Russia/Ukraine tensions for round of selling. Note: from the US Embassy in Ukraine earlier:

  • "The security situation in Ukraine continues to be unpredictable due to the increased threat of Russian military action and can deteriorate with little notice. The U.S. Embassy urges U.S. citizens in Ukraine to consider departing now using commercial or other privately available transportation options."
  • Dep Sec of State Sherman mentioning timing of when Russia may use military force in Ukraine anytime between now and mid-Feb contributing to round of selling (and higher crude as well: WTI +1.56 at 87.16).
  • Sec of State Blinken to make remarks at press conf at 1200ET.
