US gasoline blenders are stocking up on octane boosting components ahead of the summer driving season after facing shortfalls last year.
- The shortages led to a record spread for premium-grade gasoline versus standard varieties.
- US imports of alkylate and reformate have reached 147,000 barrels a day so far this month, the second highest in records going back to 2017, according to Kpler.
- In warning signs for the US economy, gasoline demand in the run up to the summer driving season has been sluggish despite far lower pump prices versus year ago levels.
