US Crude Export Capacity to 10.7mb/d in 2026: ESAI Energy

OIL

US crude export capacity is set to reach 10.7mb/d in 2026 from the current 7.5mb/d according to ESAI Energy.

  • The forecast assumes two proposed VLCC capable export projects of New offshore Sea Port Oil terminal (SPOT) and Texas GulfLink are successfully completed.
  • They will both be able to fully load supertankers and are seen lowering transport costs. Currently only Louisiana Offshore Oil Port has the capability to handle supertankers.
  • US crude exports are currently projected to reach about 5.2mb/d in the 2030s compared to 3.6mb/d in 2022. Estimates for crude export growth of just 650kb/d by 2026 suggest the underuse of smaller terminals as shippers seek lowest cost of transport from VLCCs.
  • Gulf of Mexico production is forecast up to 2mb/d through 2030 compared to 1.75m b/d last year.
