US Gas Output Fell Amid Freeze-Offs but Already Recovering: BNEF

Freeze-offs have taken a toll on US natural gas production this week according to BNEF.

  • Output is down about 8.1Bcf/d on the week to an average of 96.7Bcf/d through Jan 17 although supply is already recovering from a low of 91.2Bcf/d on Jan 16.
  • The Permian saw a considerable decline from 17Bcf/d on Jan 14 to 14.5Bcf/d on Jan 15 as daily average temperatures dropped below freezing.
  • EIA reference week ending Jan 19 could see the largest withdrawal since 2021 estimated at 322bcf/d according to BNEF.
