US Gasoline Demand Lagging 2021

The US summer driving season is being impacted by higher gasoline prices according to Kayrros.

  • Gasoline consumption is up seasonally since Memorial Day but use has slipped year-on-year since June 2, averaging around 2.6% below 2021 levels in June.
  • The national average price for regular unleaded gasoline reached $5.034 a gallon on June 16, the highest on record, according to GasBuddy. The price has since eased a bit, posting a weekly decline in the period ending June 20 for the first time in nine weeks.
