US Not Considering Extra SPR Release

The US isn’t considering an additional release from the SPR despite the expected cut in OPEC production according to White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre yesterday.

  • “We’re not considering new releases from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve beyond the 180 million”
  • The US Department of Energy has so far released 155mbbls of the planned 180m bbls withdrawal. Another 10mbbls is expected to go under contract by the end of the month with 15mbbls expected to be release in November ahead of the EU ban on Russian crude on Dec 5.
