US Regionals This Week: Insights To CRE, Consumers And Cards

FINANCIALS

Further to earlier on US banks, we’ve still got a list of US regionals yet to report which should give further visibility into US CRE market, alongside wider economic metrics for that market.

  • Today: Citizens (CFG US), US Bancorp (USB US) and Synovus (SNV US). Citizens (previously part of RBS NatWest) is a classic New England super-regional with relatively strong asset quality but the right footprint to give us some insights into the key NYC market. USB is more Mid-Western but larger and Synovus is a smaller bank down in Georgia.
  • Also today: Discover Financial (DFS US) is one of the US’s leading card companies and, similar to AmEx, is both a payment network and a card issuer/lender. It’s in the midst of being bought by Capital One but can still give great insight into US consumers, spending patterns and delinquencies.
  • 18-Apr: KeyCorp (Key US) in the mid-West, Comerica (CMA US) the large commercial lender based in Texas.
  • 19-Apr: Fifth Third (FITB US) and Huntington Bancshares (HBAN US) in the mid-West, Regions Financial (RF US) in the deep South and American Express (AXP US).
