US Risky Assets Outperforms When USD Rises

US
  • This chart shows that periods of USD appreciation are generally associated with strong outperformance of US equities relative to the Rest of the World (RoW).
  • As the political instability keeps rising in some EM countries (i.e. South Africa) and the uncertainty over the Delta variant remains elevated, preference for risk off assets such as the US Dollar could continue to rise in the near to medium term.

  • Based on this chart, US assets should continue to outperform the 'Rest of the World' equities if the momentum on the US Dollar continues.
