DOLLAR-CANADA
DOLLAR-CANADA: USD/CAD last deals at C$1.3371, 16 pips higher on the day and two
pips shy of session highs. The rate registered modest gains overnight as WTI
ticked lower, after yesterday's jump, and DXY moved a touch higher as broader
risk assets suffered, with little in the way of headline flows apparent.
- Bulls need to retake yesterday's high at C$1.3384 before challenging the
C$1.34 level, which continues to cap gains. A break above the latter level would
open up the Dec 11 high/upper Bollinger band (2%) at C$1.3424/28. On the
downside, initial support is located at C$1.3339, where the rate bottomed
yesterday, followed by the Dec 12 low of C$1.3323.
- Canadian focus next week turns to domestic CPI due Wednesday, as well as GDP &
retail sales due Friday. Elsewhere, the BoC will publish its biz. outlook survey
next Friday.
