USD/CAD last trades at C$1.3358.......>

DOLLAR-CANADA
DOLLAR-CANADA: USD/CAD last trades at C$1.3358. The pair has added 8 pips thus
far, even as WTI sits ~$0.30 higher.
- CAD finished as the best G10 performer yesterday, as stronger energy complex
boosted the currency, allowing USD/CAD to close 17 pips lower. This occurred
although the rate had edged higher in the Asia-Pac session, as the loonie had
continued to come under pressure from Monday's disappointing BoC Business
Outlook Survey & political uncertainty re: Alberta's provincial election.
- That being said, Alberta polls are about to close in two hours' time, with
opinion surveys pointing to the likely victory of the conservative UCP. The
results will be watched in the context of October's federal election, since part
of the UCP's campaign was based on criticisms of PM Trudeau's gov't.
- A lift through the cloud top at C$1.3367, briefly breached today, would open
up yesterday's high of C$1.3403. Conversely, bears look for a retreat towards
the 100-DMA at C$1.3335.
- Canadian CPI comes out later today, while Thursday will see the release of
Canadian retail sales.
