FOREX: USD holds firm, driving NZD & AUD to fresh YTD lows
- The USD retained a broad-based bid tone through NY Monday which saw FX ccy
pairs under pressure, the DXY reclaim 95 and Gold fall to 7 month lows.
- Commodity based currency pairs in particular suffered, AUD & NZD remain at the
bottom of the G10 pile with losses of 1.17%/1.04% against the USD. AUDUSD
touched fresh YTD lows of $0.7311, NZDUSD traded through $0.6700 for the first
time since May 2016.
- EURUSD continued its descent to briefly make a show under $1.1600, rate
touched pullback lows of $1.1591 before staging a modest recovery. GBPUSD dipped
under $1.3100, but later recovered to the $1.3130/35 area.
- Gold continues to lose its safe-haven status and slipped to near 7-month lows
of $1239.89. The yellow metal seen approaching long term up trend line support
at $1238.69.
- MXN woes persist, having earlier wiped out post Presidential election gains,
USDMXN extended to Mxn20.2006.
- Riksbank the main highlight tomorrow at 0730GMT.
