DOLLAR-YEN
DOLLAR-YEN: USD/JPY last trades at Y112.43, 26 pips lower on the day. Worth
mentioning that the yen came under pressure from soft domestic GDP readings just
ahead of the Nikkei opening, but quickly pared losses thereafter, as regional
equities underperformed with the Nikkei 225 ~2% lower at writing. The pair
subsequently moved away from session lows at Y112.24, as the dollar's weakness
waned slightly later in the day.
- Bears keep an eye on the 100-DMA at Y112.28 and a break below that level would
open up the 1.0% 10-DMA envelope at Y112.06. On the topside, initial focus falls
on Friday's high at Y112.92 and a break above would allow bull to target the
55-DMA at Y113.07.
- Japanese highlights this week include the quarterly BoJ Tankan survey, due
Friday, as well as the usual BoJ Rinban ops.
