USD Recoups Some OF Thursday's Losses, AUD & NZD Underperform

FOREX

The USD has continued to regain some of Thursday's lost ground, as Friday's Asia Pac session unfolds. The BBDXY last back above 1254.15, up 0.10% for the session so far (unwinding around a third of Thursday's losses).

  • AUD and NZD are the weakest performers, both currencies down around 0.30% against the USD. AUD/USD was last back close to 0.6600, NZD around 0.6015.
  • Regional equity sentiment is mixed. HK equities are higher amid potentially greater south bound flows around tax changes under consideration. China Mainland equities are mostly down though. Earlier headlines from BBG on potential tariff increases from the Biden Administration on key sectors like EVs, is probably weighing.
  • USD/CNH has firmed back towards 7.2300, another potential AUD and NZD headwind
  • USD/JPY has once again been supported on dips the pair last around session highs near 155.75, around 0.15% weaker in yen terms.
  • US equity futures are close to flat. US 10yr Tsy futures looked to test Thursday highs earlier, but we back lower in recent dealings. Cash Tsy yields are back to being slightly higher for the session.
