USD/THB Pulls Back Under 50-DMA, Thailand Won't Procure Covid-19 Jabs Through Covax Scheme

Spot USD/THB returned under the 50-DMA after re-opening lower after the weekend. The pair last changes hands at THB30.040, slightly below neutral levels. Bears look for a dip through Feb 1 low of THB29.888, towards Jan 4 & 5 lows of THB29.840. Conversely, a break above Feb 5 high of THB30.132 would allow bulls to target Jan 12 high of THB30.190.

  • The Thai gov't said in a statement that it won't procure Covid-19 vaccines through the WHO's Covax programme for now, because of the strict conditions associated with the scheme. Director of Thailand's National Vaccine Institute noted that "acquiring the vaccines directly from the producers will be more flexible," despite concerns over potential supply delays & higher prices.
