USDCAD Briefly Tests Post-SVB Low

CANADA
  • USDCAD has lifted off session lows but briefly touched joint post-SVB lows of 1.3652 (-0.5%) with an intraday firming in risk sentiment, nearing levels last seen before Powell opened the door to a 50bp hike on Mar 7.
  • Amidst recent CAD underperformance, which has helped push the C$ to 4-6% below long-term averages in real effective terms, it sits nearer the top end of the majors today.
  • A more concerted push lower could open support at the 50-day EMA 1.3568 although the recent pullback for the pair is considered corrective with resistance at 1.3814 (Mar 15 high).
