USDCAD Fleetingly Tests New Support As CAD Outperforms

CANADA
  • USDCAD touched new session lows of 1.356 (-0.3%) before swiftly rising 15 pips having tested support at 1.3562 (50% retrace of Feb 2 – Mar 10 rally).
  • CAD is a clear outperformer across G10 FX on the day, against a backdrop of the BBDXY on net higher across the day and S&P E-minis firming albeit off highs.
  • It currently maintains earlier clearance of the 50-day EMA at 1.3598, whilst a renewed push lower could open 1.3515 (Feb 22 low).
  • There has been dwindling correlation with rate differentials but still worth bearing in mind that BoC Dep Gov Gravelle speaks on prior market liquidity measures with text released 1230ET.
