USDCAD Tests Payrolls Snap Reaction Highs

CANADA
  • WTI under pressure (WTI -3.4%) helps USDCAD probe Friday’s snap high of 1.3399. The initial resistance level came on the twin jobs reports, which were stronger than expected US NFPs and lower than expected CAD jobs growth but both of which were caveated.
  • A continuation higher would open firmer resistance at 1.3471 (50-day EMA).
  • Latest CFTC futures positioning for Jan 2 showed a further trimming in CAD net shorts from -19.7% to -11.5% OI, the lowest since late September.
