USD/MYR re-opened lower today, returning below its 200-DMA, following yesterday's greenback sell-off. The rate last sits at MYR4.1305, 60 pips worse off on the day.

  • Science Min Khairy tweeted Thursday that Malaysia will review the use of AstraZeneca jabs after the EMA issued its opinion about the vaccine. The decision will be taken by the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee.
  • Khairy also said that Malaysia will join the Covax programme to show solidarity with the global push for equal access to vaccines.
  • PM Muhyiddin proposed to fellow leaders of D-8 member states (major Muslim developing countries) to introduce mutually recognised Covid-19 vaccine certificate.
  • A break below Apr 7 low of MYR4.1220 would open up Mar 18 low of MYR4.1020. On the topside, a rally past yesterday's high of MYR4.1427 would bring Mar 31 high of MYR4.1590 into play.
  • Malaysian Department of Statistics will release Feb industrial output data today. BBG consensus forecast is for an increase by 1.8% Y/Y, with estimates ranging from -4.1% to +7.4%.
