Vancouver Aframax Tankers Rates Fall Before TMX: Argus

Vancouver-loading rates fell to a six-month low on April 19 amid oversupply of Aframax tankers, according to Bloomberg citing Argus.

  • Vessels are being positioned on the West Coast of North America ahead of Trans Mountain pipeline operations beginning May 1.
  • Aframax rates for Vancouver -US West Coast to ship 80k mt of Canadian crude have fallen to $1.50/b April 19, compared to $2.55/b March 21.
  • Vancouver-China Aframax rates have fallen to a six-month low of $6.59mMMBtu April 19, compared to $7.78/b April 2.
