VdL Recieves GER, GRE R&R Plans, Aim: Be Ready By Summer

EU COMMISSION

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen tweets twice:

  • "We have received Germany's Recovery & Resilience plan under #NextGenerationEU Glad that it includes reforms & investments linked to EU-wide priorities: climate action, a stronger health system, digital. We will now assess it. Our goal: to have everything ready by the summer."
  • "We have received Greece's Recovery & Resilience plan. Good to see that it focusses on strategic areas for the country's future: green & digital, jobs, skills, private investment and reform. After assessment Greece could receive up to €30.5 billion under #NextGenerationEU"
  • France, Italy, and Spain also due to submit their plans to the EU today.
  • Once the plans are received, the Commission has two months to examine the member state plans and make funding proposals that need signing off by the European Council via a qualified majority vote. This will likely take the process up to end-June at the very earliest.
  • Yesterday, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire stated he wanted full approval of the plans by end-July at the latest to ensure tranches of funding began flowing in the summer.
