Venezuelan Refining Set to Benefit from Iranian Help

Venezuela’s Paraguana refinery complex is set to shortly begin a 100-day overhaul to reclaim its crude distillation capacity according to Reuters sources.

  • The work is set to be completed as a joint effort by Venezuela’s PDVSA and the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC).
  • In October last year, the Amuay refining unit at the 950,000 bpd Paraguana refinery complex stopped operations after a blackout and fire at the complex.
  • Along with sanctions, the lack of refining capacity has led to severe fuel shortages in Venezuela.
