US Vice President Kamala Harris is shortly due to deliver remarks at a campaign event in Savannah, Georgia to cap her two-bus tour through Republican majority districts in the southeast of the state. LIVESTREAM
- Recent polling suggests that Harris’ resurgent campaign has brought Georgia back into play for Democrats, with the state likely hold similar importance for Trump as Pennsylvania does for Harris.
- Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said recently that Trump, “can’t win without Georgia… It’s mathematically possible, but if we don’t win Georgia, then we had a bad night because all the dynamics are there for us to reclaim Georgia.”
- Mitch Landrieu, a co-chair for the Harris-Walz campaign, told MSNBC: “We really think that we have a chance to win Georgia. They’re going to compete there in a very hard way.”
- Harris intends to use the trip to “lay out the stark choice facing voters in this election between Donald Trump’s dark and dangerous Project 2025 agenda and [her] optimistic and patriotic vision for a new way forward,” according to her campaign.
- Trump has been given a bump in Georgia by Governor Brian Kemp’s (R-GA) commitment to campaigning for Trump. The pair have had an adversarial relationship since 2020 when Kemp rejected Trump’s request to challenge the presidential election result.
- According to The Hill, “Kemp is slated to participate in a Georgia fundraiser for former President Trump, bringing in campaign funds for the GOP presidential nominee as the two look to tone down their lengthy feud.”
