VIEW: ANZ: Done With Tightening But No Quick Pivot

BOK

ANZ write “the Bank of Korea’s (BoK) decision to hike its policy rate today by 25bps to 3.50% was not unanimous, with two members calling for a rate hold. While the central bank acknowledged the growth slowdown, it cited a desire to ensure price stability behind its rate decision.”

  • “The BoK board appears to be divided about the need for further tightening.”
  • “We maintain that today’s hike marks the end of the BoK’s current tightening cycle, but the hurdle for a pivot towards an easing bias remains high.”
