In the wake of this morning’s RTRS sources piece re: sterilisation matters Rabobank note that “sterilisation rather than asset sales was our base case for the new scheme (and certainly the most logical solution for asset purchases in a rate rising environment). However, we still think that any conditionality will prove a major obstacle for the scheme and means that the ECB is likely to take more than one attempt to end up with something that achieves the desired objective.”
