VLSFO Sales at Rotterdam Slip

Sales of VLSFO from the Port of Rotterdam declined by 7.9% quarter on quarter to 906,368 mt in Q2, the lowest level since Q4 2019.

  • MGO saw a more modest fall, down 1.7% to 253,748 mt, its lowest quarter since Q1 2021
  • In contrast, HSFO bunker sales recovered, up 4.6% and their highest quarter since Q4 2020 to 847,189.
  • Demand for LNG as a bunker fuel showed a strong recovery, up 108% on the quarter to 179,804 cu m, the highest level since Q3 2021.
  • LNG bunkering demand has rebounded since natural gas prices retreated from their record highs seen in H2 of 2022, making prices more competitive against conventional bunker fuels.
